A MAN from Middlewich has been given an eight-month suspended prison sentence after being convicted of production of Class B drugs.

Sean Telforth, 25, of Byron Close, was convicted at Chester Crown court on Friday, February 20.

Telforth was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months and ordered to carry out 250 hours community work.

He was initially arrested by officers in October 2014 after 33 cannabis plants were found growing in his garage.

Sgt Penny Jones, from the Middlewich Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "This is an excellent result which has been achieved as a result of working and listening to the local community.

"A lot of the work carried out tackling drugs and drug crime is done without the public knowing, but whilst utilising their information. The community only find out what has happened when the arrests and seizures are made.

"I would like to encourage anyone who has any information to help tackle drugs or any crime in Middlewich to contact Cheshire Police on 101."

Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
