POLICE are asking residents and businesses in Middlewich to help them stop a man from entering the town centre following a court order that was handed down to him earlier this year.

Officers in the town's unit are asking for assistance in enforcing the terms and conditions of a criminal behaviour order.

Dean Fowles, from Middlewich, has breached the order, given to him after assaulting members of the public and committing public order offences within Middlewich town centre earlier this year.

Criminal Behaviour Orders give authorities another tool to deal with those individuals who may behave in an anti-social way or be engaged in criminal activity.

This order for Mr Fowles was Issued at South and East Cheshire Magistrates Court in Crewe on November 18 this year.

It was issued to last two years and the order has two conditions, which are; not to engage in any act, or use any words or behaviour, which is threatening, abusive or insulting or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to any person or incite or encourage others to behave in the same way; and not to enter Middlewich Town Centre between 7pm and 7am.

On November 24, Fowles breached the order by entering the exclusion zone.

As a result he was arrested and put before the court the following day. He received an unpaid work requirement of 80 hours to be carried out within the next twelve months and was made to pay a total of £145 in fines and costs. The original order still stands.

PC Marie McCormack, from the Middlewich Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: "We are committed to making Middlewich a safer place and enforcing this order is a part of that.

Anyone who sees Dean Fowles breaching this order by entering the town centre between the hours of 7pm and 7am or harassing or causing distress to anyone can contact us straight away on 101 or in an emergency by dialing 999."
