POLICE are advising residents in Middlewich to be on guard after a spate of thefts from vehicles in the town.

Four thefts were reported to police to have happened through the night between Wednesday, November 12, and Thursday, November 13.

The thieves targeted unlocked cars throughout the night on three roads in Middlewich with two thefts on Eardswick Road, one on Jubilee Pastures, and one on Alexander Road.

Police are now warning residents to be aware of these types of thefts and to remember to always lock their vehicles.

Sgt Kerry Snowden, said: “The message we are trying to put out is that thee offenders will walk past every locked car until they try the one that is unlocked.

“These people will not smash a window because then draw attention to themselves so they will move on if your car is locked.

“It is a horrendous problem and people should also remember to not leave anything in their car.”
