ONE man was arrested and 33 cannabis plants were seized during a drug raid in Middlewich.

Police executed a warrant on Byron Close in Middlewich on Thursday, October 16, and arrested a 25-year-old male for suspicion of production of cannabis.

PC Ian Capper, from Cheshire Police, said: “The warrant on Thursday was very successful and we are doing a number of drug warrants at the minute.

“We always act on all information we receive and intelligence in regards to drugs in the area.”

Residents in the area were shocked to hear the news and said they would never have suspected that drugs were being grown near their home.

One resident of Byron Close said: “I seen the police coming out of the house this morning carrying big plastic boxes but I had no idea what was going on.

“Everyone on the street is really friendly and I would never have thought anything like that was going on just on my doorstep.

One other resident said: “I would never have thought anything like this was happening on the street because it’s just so quiet.

“I suppose it shows you never know what your neighbours are up to.

“I’ve lived in areas before where you can get a feeling that something dodgy like that is happening because of the amount of people coming and going but I haven’t noticed anything like that here.”

The drug raid was carried on the same morning that police carried out three drug raids in Northwich as part of Operation Impact. See here for more.
