A MUSICAL showcase at Middlewich Civic Hall raised more than £700 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Middlewich High School Community Choir performed in aid of the charity and despite the conductor of the choir, Julie Barker, being taken ill just before the show, the event was a huge success.

The choir finished off the show with their rendition of ‘With a Little Help from my Friends’, which is the signature song of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The audience of over 100, including Middlewich Mayor Paul Edwards and his consort Sonia, joined in enthusiastically to sing the chorus.

The choir was also complemented by the Sandbach and District U3A Brass Band, blasted out a medley of First World War classics including ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary.'

Aimee Clare, Alzheimer’s Society Community Fundraiser, said: “We’ve raised £715 to support services for dementia which is absolutely brilliant.

“The concert has been organised completely by the local fundraising group who are all volunteers.

“If any of you are interested in volunteering, you’d be very welcome.

“Thank you so much to the members of the choir and the band for their brilliant performance tonight, and thank you too to all of you for supporting this event.”
