MIDDLEWICH MP Fiona Bruce joined First World War nurses, soldiers and loved ones for a musical send-off at Goostrey Station last month.

Community choir Theatre in the Quarter toured Cheshire railways stations throughout September to perform Over by Christmas, a choral commemoration featuring words and songs of the First World War.

During the whistle-stop tour, the in-character choir performed at Plumley station and Holmes Chapel station, as well as Goostrey, where Mrs Bruce joined them for a sing-a-long.

Mrs Bruce said: “This is a wonderful commemoration in words, music and song of the service and sacrifice of soldiers, nurses, workers and their families during the Great War.

"It is particularly moving that it was performed at Cheshire’s railway stations where so many last goodbyes were shared.”
