AN African warrior troupe is set to visit Middlewich for the first time to help raise money for their village in Kenya.
The Osiligi Maasai Warrior Troupe will give a performance of African song and dance in Middlewich Town Hall on Thursday, September, 25, at 7pm.
The performance in Middlewich is part of a nationwide tour which raises money for the troupes' families and village back home.
The event will continue the Town Council’s Celebrating Cultures project which was created in 2008 and has recently been given a £10,000 grant.
Dave Thompson, events manager at Middlewich Town Council, said: “The Town Councils` Celebrating Cultures project continues with this unique opportunity for our schools and community to experience.
“It gives me a real buzz to work with artists from around the world and I can`t wait to see the Maasai Warriors performance.
“Middlewich High School will host the daytime workshops, followed by the evening performance.
“Part two of our Big Lottery funded community workshops continue later this year with focus on the Far East, so this brief visit provides a welcome taste of more new cultures.”
Tickets cost £8 for adults and £5 for under 18’s and can be bought from Middlewich Town Council by visiting the Victoria Building on Lewin Street or by calling 01606 833434.
