YET another housing estate will be built off King Street in Middlewich if a recent planning application is approved.

Middlewich residents have shown their disapproval after C and R Land and Developments Ltd submitted a planning application on Thursday, August 14, for 24 dwellings to be built off King Street behind existing houses opposite St Mary’s R C Church.

Residents have until Wednesday, September 17, to give their views on the application and have so far shown their frustration by objecting to the plans.

Rob Hemsley, from Flavian Close, Middlewich, commented: “Yet again greed and money outweigh common sense and 'design' of what is and still could be a nice, small town, without overcrowding.

“The view from the rear of houses on Flavian Close will be ruined by such a development and increased noise on a regular daily basis is another contentious issue.

“The traffic issue, of a potential 50 cars seeking entry and exit from King Street will cause many issues for local existing residents as traffic on Kind Street is already congested for much of the year, in particular during rush hour periods.”

The increase of traffic that the new residential area would supposedly cause is the main concern for existing residents, with some saying it would make the road prone to accidents.

Charlotte Barrett, from King Street, Middlewich, said: “I really think this should be put to the public first.

“The access would make it even worse because it is a nightmare trying to get on and off King Street already and soon there will be a serious accident.”

A planning committee meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, at the Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, where a decision on will be made.
