MEMBERS of the Mothers’ Union Middlewich deanery have been jetting off on holiday with toy dwarfs to raise money for the union.

Middlewich deanery members have been paying to take cuddly toys of Dopey, Happy and Grumpy on holiday with them and the fundraiser has so far seen the characters visit New Zealand, France, and Switzerland.

The highlight of their travels so far has come for Grumpy, as a group from Middlewich took him to Soul Survivor Festival and met Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, while Dopey enjoyed Sushi on one of his trips.

Joan Colwell, member of the Middlewich deanery and chair of social concerns at the Chester Diocese, said: “The idea came from another deanery who do a similar thing with Teddy Bears called Travelling Teddies.

“The dwarfs work really well because they make people smile when they see them and it strikes up conversation about the Mothers’ Union with people.

“It is great fun and we are delighted to have raised more than £100 already.”
