MIDDLEWICH High School’s headteacher has commended this year’s batch of GCSE students for doing ‘exceptionally well’ in their examinations.

This year, GCSE students achieved 50 percent 5 or more A* - C grades, including English and Mathematics, and 15 percent of students achieved 5 or more A* or A grades.

In the core subjects, students who were entered for English Language and English Literature achieved 95 percent and 100 percent A* - C respectively. High standards in Maths have been maintained, with 61 percent achieving a C grade or higher.

An impressive 98 percent of students entered for Maths Statistics achieved A* - C grades, with 44 percent achieving an A* or A grade.

Science students excelled, with 93 percent, 95 percent and 96 percent achieving A* - C grades in Biology, Physics and Chemistry respectively.

Headteacher Mr K Simpson said: “Following our successful Ofsted last year, I am delighted to report that our students receiving their GCSE results today have achieved exceptionally well.

“Ofsted recognised that Middlewich High School is an inclusive school and the staff and students here at Middlewich High School will be feeling a huge sense of pride in realising our motto of ‘Achievement for All’.

“The strong partnership that we promote between the school and home is the key to our students’ success.

“We would like to thank all members of staff associated with the school, parents and Governors in supporting our students achieve their holistic targets both academically and personally”.

Top performers include Alexandra Chatsworth and Phoebe Cottam, who each achieved 10 A* and A grades, and Emily Greaves-Braynes, Eve Hayward and Lucy Moss, who scored 9A* - A grades each.
