A PENSIONER in Middlewich has hit out at Cheshire East Council after losing patience with the ‘lack of policing’ on the park on Moss Drive.

Victor Richardson, 69, who lives on Moss Drive next to the park, says he has had enough with the gangs of intimidating youths who leave litter scattered all over the park, and has called on the borough council to do something about it.

Victor said: “We all feel like we play second fiddle to the likes of Sandbach and Knutsford, because if you go to those towns the parks are kept all clean and tidy, but forget Middlewich.

“The litter is absolutely disgusting, you wouldn’t believe it, and it’s left to the residents and the clean team to pick up.

“It’s not on because it shouldn’t be up to the residents to pick up litter.

“Nobody from the council comes to pick up the litter, they just come and mow the grass and mow over the cans leaving sharp pieces of shrapnel everywhere.

“The gangs of youths that are here three nights-a-week are the ones that leave all the bottles and cans, but you can’t go and say anything because you’ll get abuse or a brick through your window.

“We’ve lived here for 45 years and we’ve never seen anything like what we do now, it’s an utter disgrace.

“The park needs more litter bins and policing and if not it needs closing.”

This comes after Moss Drive Park, along with several other play parks in the area were given a huge investment by Cheshire East in 2013, when the parks where renovated and given brand new equipment.

Litter on play parks in Middlewich has been a talking point over the past few months, with parents complaining of glass on Fountain Fields Park on Queen Street in The Guardian last month.
