TESCO Express on Warmingham Lane has raised funds for St Luke’s Hospice after its reopening in a way to give something back to the community.

The Middlewich store held a raffle to raise funds for St Luke’s and gave away six hampers of prizes to customers.

The store closed between Sunday, July 20, and Thursday, July 31, for major refurbishment and store manager Andy Cartwright says the staff felt they needed to thank their customers and the community on their reopening.

Andy said: “We gave away the hampers and it was nice because they were all regular shoppers and they were very pleased with them.

“We had to close because of the extent of the work being done and we knew it was going to impact on the community so we said we need to do something to give back to the community.

“Supporting a local charity and rewarding our regular customers at the same time was a great way to do it.”

The raffle raised around £300 and the store will be still collecting for the hospice for the next few days with buckets placed on the checkouts.

The store now has a new shop front and new floor and fittings, as well as 280 new products.
