MIDDLEWICH Town Mayor Clr Paul Edwards will be embarking on a 40 mile walk to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Clr Edwards will be setting off from Ellesmere Port on Friday, August 22, and will be walking through the night to arrive in Middlewich on Saturday, August 23.
The Mayor is hoping to raise £1,000 for his designated charity and says the money raised can help people with dementia in Middlewich.
Clr Edwards said: “I wanted to do the walk the last time I was the Town Mayor five years ago but I injured my back and couldn’t do it, so I had to make sure I did it this time.
“In Middlewich there is no dementia support group, so we need to provide help in the town and a support group would be a good way people can meet a talk to other people who are in the same situation.
“I don’t walk that far normally so it will be tough but I’ll get through it and hopefully raise as close to £1,000 as I can.”
Clr Edwards will be tackling the challenge alone until his wife joins him for the last 10 miles into Middlewich.
