STAFF at Manor House Care Home in Middlewich relaxed in a bath of baked beans for 24 hours to raise money for a new sensory garden for their residents.

Seven members of staff from the care home took turns bathing in the tub, which was filled with more than 100 tins of baked beans.

The 24 hour slog raised around £600 and the team say they are aiming for £2000 for the garden.

Michelle Green, carer at Manor House, said: “I did a 14 and a half hour shift through the night, I’m exhausted and my back is killing but it was worth it for the amount of money we raised.

“We want to build the sensory garden for our residents who suffer from dementia because can really help them gain a sense of purpose and well being just to get outside and interact.

“At the minute we have a lot of space but it’s uneven so the residents can’t really go outside because of health and safety, so it’s really important that we do this.”

The staff at the care home will also be bringing out a calendar, inspired by the film Calendar Girls, to raise funds.
Manor House staff also gave thanks to all that helped raise the money.

Michelle added: “I’d like to give thanks to all the people who made this possible including Tesco and Morrison’s in Middlewich who donated the tins of beans.”
