PUPILS from primary schools across Middlewich attended a Middlewich High School ‘WOW day’ and were shown what it was like to live in the town during the First World War.
Year five pupils from Middlewich Primary School, Cledford Primary School, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Wimboldsley Community Primary School, and Byley Primary School, visited Middlewich High School to get a taste of secondary school life.
The ‘WOW’ day, which took place on Friday, May 16, was in its third year at the school and this time took a different approach to commemorate the First World War centenary.
Natalie Beard, a teacher at Middlewich High School, said: “The day went really well and the children from the primary schools really enjoyed themselves.
“I asked them what they thought of it and they said they wished school was like that every day.”
The day was led by year nine pupils from the high school, who had been planning and preparing the sessions for weeks for the day.
The primary school pupils were shown what it was like to live in Middlewich during the war, and took part in various themed activities such as a 1914 style PE lessons.
Natalie added: “The year nine pupils had made all the resources and planned all of the lessons themselves, and they really rose to the challenge and we got some really positive feedback about their sessions.”
