THE Kings Lock pub in Middlewich will be hosting a reopening event after it was recently taken over.

The pub, which is on the canal side on Booth Lane, was bought by Cornerstone Inns after it has been in a run-down state in recent years, and will be reopening its doors on Thursday, May 1.

Middlewich Town Mayor Clr Bernice Walmsley will be at the opening to share a drink and toast the pub into the right direction.

Local folk bands will also be playing on the day such as Ash Before oak and Hanami, as well as real ale tastings and a Thai barbeque.

Damon Horrill, managing director of the Cornerstone Inns, said: “This is the start of the regeneration of a formerly great Middlewich pub and we’re happy to be rechristening a famous watering hole in style.

“We want to create a real community, folky feel about the pub and the Mayday opening is the start of it, so come along and meet the new community and become a part of it.”

Cornerstone Inns have a track record of refurbishing pubs in the Weaver Vale area, running The Red Lion in Winsford and Folk and Boat Festival Bars in Middlewich amongst others.
