A WOMAN from Middlewich has set out on a quest to raise £5,000 for Cancer Research after her ‘new found youth’.

Gail Armstrong, 42, from Middlewich, has completed a 10k run to raise money for the charity and has vowed to take on another three challenges to reach her target.

Gail ran the High Leigh 10k on Sunday, March 9, with a personal best time of 1hr19 and is now training for the Manchester 10k run on May 18, the Great Manchester Cycle on June 14, and the Manchester to Blackpool Cycle on July 15.

The Middlewich mum decided to take on the gruelling challenge after her sister-in-law being diagnosed with breast cancer coupled with rediscovering her youth, put life in perspective.

Gail said: “I had to go for a health check up and was told I was incredibly healthy and had the fitness of someone 11 years younger while at the same time my sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer.”

“That really put everything in perspective and I felt compelled to use my new found youth to help people with the cancer.”

So far, Gail has raised around £500 but has asked for any help in reaching her £5,000 target.

Gail added: “I really don’t want to be greedy because I know what it’s like but if everyone could just donate £1 each I would be so grateful.

Gail has also offered to sponsor any local businesses during her run and cycle’s if they would help her out with a small donation.
