Middlewich Library will remain open according to the council despite pressures on its budget.
Cheshire East Council claims it is committed to keeping open all of its libraries and to widen their appeal to the community.
The council says it is aiming to buck the national trend of library closures and to instead broaden Middlewich Library’s role as a community hub.
Clr David Brown, Cheshire East Council cabinet member for strategic communities, said: “As a council we recognise the valuable role that our libraries play in their communities.”
“Cheshire East libraries are highly valued by our residents and by this Council.
“They should be a key resource to help our local communities become stronger and support people to develop the life skills and education they need to thrive in the modern world.”
The 16 libraries, including Middlewich Library, within Cheshire East has the highest number of books borrowed each year of all unitary authorities, and the third-highest out of all UK local authorities.
