GUARDIAN photographer Matt Sayle was not too impressed by the state of his car this week.
For, like thousands of other residents, he found his car covered in Sahara dust.
The term Sahara dust refers to the sand and dust from the desert that can be transported in the air when the wind is blowing in a certain direction.
It leaves a fine layer of dust over vehicles – and is not ideal if you’ve just washed your car!
