AMBER Clayton was one of the stars of the show on Saturday at the Middlewich Oscars.

Amber won the Young Citizen of the Year Award, which she received from Keith Simpson, head teacher at Middlewich High School.

The Oscars presentation evening was held at the town hall function suite, and featured entertainment from local performers, who gave their time free of charge for charity.

Those performing included Marie-Clare Scott, who reached the judges house stage of the X-Factor.

Middlewich High School sponsored the Young Citizen award, one of 14 awards presented during the evening.

Linda Bowden was the fundraiser of the year in an award backed by Plus Dane, and the Environmental Initiative Award, sponsored by Middlewich Clean Team, was presented to Dennis Mottram.

Philip James Hairdressing celebrated in the customer service category, which was supported by Bare Bones Marketing.

The Sports Person of the Year accolade went to Andrew and Jane Cann, an award sponsored by Sport Cheshire.

Middlewich Physiotherapy sponsored the Emergency Services Award, which went to Alan Owen, and Sylvia Wrench was honoured with the Senior Citizen of the Year title, which was supported by Anchor Housing.

Greg and Sue Williams from Middlewich Narrowboats were victorious in the Small Business of the Year category, which was sponsored by The White Bear, and Winsford and Middlewich Rotary Club backed the Making a Difference accolade, which was presented to Penny Guinane.

Ken Kingston won the Carer’s Award, sponsored by Willowmere, the Good Neighbour of the Year title went to Peter and Kath Burrows, an award supported by Middlewich Community Church, and Community and Voluntary Services in Cheshire East backed the Volunteer of the Year title presented to Sue Johns.

Anne Latham received an award for her contribution to community life, a title supported by Middlewich U3A, and Will Moreton won the Town Mayor’s Special Award.
