RESIDENTS who show kindness to their neighbours could be in for a chance of winning the ‘Middlewich good neighbour’ competition which comes with a £500 reward.

The competition is launched by Stewart Milne Homes in a bid to find the best neighbour in Middlewich.

A judging panel made up of the Middlewich Guardian, Simon Bennett, of Stewart Milne Homes, and the town mayor, Bernice Walmsley, will decide on the winner.

'People can nominate others'

People can nominate others or put themselves forward for the competition and must submit a short description, video or photograph which explains why they should win.

Simon Bennett, sales and marketing director said: "When people come to view our homes at Jersey Fields they almost always ask about the community spirit.

"Our homes are designed for families so the foundations for a good community are built because it’s like minded people in the same area.

"There is a beautiful communal green, it’s in a quiet area away from any main thoroughfares with speed restrictions.

"There's also easy access to the town centre with pedestrian walkways and the layout means neighbours can keep an eye on each other’s homes when they are not around.

"These design factors all help new residents create their own community.

"We believe community spirit is one of the most important aspects for people when they move to a new home and it’s certainly alive in kicking in Middlewich.

"We want to recognise and celebrate the best neighbours in the area, so please get in touch with your nominations and help us crown Middlewich’s best neighbour."

Do you have a neighbour who always takes your bins out, mows your lawns or just generally looks out for you? Then we want to hear from you.

'Community spirit is so important'

Bernice Walmsley, town mayor, said: "I’ve lived in this town for 15 years and I’m always warmed by the many lovely stories I’m told about good neighbourly behaviour.

"Community spirit is so important when it comes to creating a healthy, happy living environment, so I’m delighted to be part of this scheme to seek out our hidden neighbourhood heroes."

The top neighbour in Middlewich will receive £500 and a ‘Middlewich Good Neighbour’ plaque crowning them the neighbourhood champion.

Send your entrants to charlie.kennedy@guardiangrp.co.uk or call 01606813630. The competition will close on February 19.
