MIDDLEWICH High School’s excellent GCSE results on Thursday complemented the school’s recent Ofsted success.

Following a positive Ofsted inspection on June 9 and 10, in which the school was judged at least good in all categories, Headteacher, Mr K. Simpson, said he was delighted with the great success experienced by his GCSE students this year.

Overall, 50pc of students achieved 5 or more A*- C grades, including English and Maths and 21pc of the Year 11 cohort achieved 3 or more A*/A grades.

High standards in Maths have been maintained, with 70pc of the students achieving a C grade or higher in GCSE Maths and 94pc achieving A*-C grades in Statistics GCSE.

Mr Simpson added: “I feel the students and staff have been rewarded for their sustained hard work and dedication over the last 5 years.

“Ofsted recognised that Middlewich High School is an inclusive and harmonious school, where all students are equally valued, respected and effectively supported to achieve their best”.

Despite a national drop in Science grades, students performed well with 94pc, 87pc and 83pc achieving A*-C grades in Physics, Biology and Chemistry respectively.

One student, Alan Sui, secured an impressive 12 A*s, alongside other exceptional students, Connor Wood, who achieved 9 A*s and 3 As; Hollie Ikin with 7 A*s and 5 As and Amy Lightfoot with 7 A*s and 5 As.

Other students who were commended for their personal excellence include Samuel Andersen, who achieved 6 A*s and 5 As; Sean Buckley with 6 A*s and 7 A’s; Nathan Carroll also gained 6 A*s with 4 As; and Joanna Drew, with 3 A*s and 6 As.

Katie Griffiths achieved 6 A*s and 5 As; Ryan Miles with 3 A*s and 8 As; Jack Schofield with 1 A* and 8 As and Emily Thompson with 3 A*s and 9 As.

Mr Simpson wished the leaving students the very best in the future.

He added: “We are confident that all our students leaving Middlewich High School will continue to be successful in their future as they progress into the next phase of their life-long journey.”
