A MIDDLEWICH haunt has been transformed after a chance conversation over a pint sparked a creative idea.

Matthew Buckley was sat in his local pub, The Vaults, when he was approached to paint one of the pub's exterior walls.

The 28-year-old got to work, stencilling the wall, and just a few weeks later, his piece of art was unveiled to the public.

Matthew said: “The mural at The Vaults is something I’m very proud of and I’m happy to put my name to it.”

The father-of-one started off making stencils for street-art but switched to stencilling in a more conventional way a few years ago.

Matthew said: “The last thing you want after spending hours on a picture is to get arrested for it which is why I’ve decided to put my work on canvas and make it legitimate.”

Customers have been impressed with the mural, which features famous artists who shaped the music industry, and Matthew has been receiving compliments for his artistic talent ever since the unveiling.

He added: “I have had positive feedback from it and many people have since asked me to make pieces for them to put in their homes.”
