A NORTHWICH man has been banned from the roads after getting behind the wheel while on cannabis.
Alex Hampson, of Alamein Road, Barnton, was driving a Vauxhall Corsa along Mill Lane in Winsford when he was caught on September 27 last year.
A subsequent blood test revealed the 27-year-old had 7µg/L of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a component of cannabis, in his system.
This is more than three times the legal limit of 2µg/L.
Hampson appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on Thursday, March 21, where he pleaded guilty to drug-driving.
Taking his admission into account, magistrates disqualified him from driving for 16 months and fined him £180.
The bench also ordered him to pay a further £120 in court costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £72 surcharge.
